We were pleasantly surprised to receive an email from a writer for ALIVE magazine requesting more information about South Carondelet and the many developements that Steins Broadway has completed and still has in the works.

ALIVE magazine mentioned hearing great things about the renovations that have been taking place along South Broadway and about Steins Broadway’s newest development, The Temtor.

What a great honor for South Carondelet to be one of the neighborhoods that was on the list for one of the ’Top 25 Best St Louis neighborhoods to live in right now’ in their March 2011 issue. Each neighborhood met a certain criteria and then were ranked with a 1-5 score and 1 being the lowest rank.

This is how South Carondelet ranked:

Affordability – 4

Amenities – 4

Green Space – 3

Noise – 2

Walkability – 4

Cultural Attractions – 4

They even mentioned a few of our newest commercial tenants in South Carondelet by saying “with help from places like Hammer and Hand Imports, The Ivory Theatre and a new music venue called Halfway Haus (among others), the area is host to a bevy of art shows and design speakeasies,”

The full article can be found in ALIVE magazine’s April issue, on page 66.

The article also mentions our new lofts for rent in St. Louis’ South Carondelet  in our newest development, The Temtor.

On the National Register of Historic Places, the Temtor building was designed in the early 1900s by noted architect Harry G. Clymer. Early press reports about the structure spoke of “integrity through workmanship, design, location and material.”

Named for its first tenant, the Temtor Fruits and Product Company, and years later purchased by Coca-Cola to manufacture the secret syrup supplied to bottlers in a five-state area.

The heritage of freshness and great taste continues today. The Temtor offers businesses and residents modern conveniences while preserving the historic features of The Temtor’s early 20th century architecture.

Through a $27 million dollar renovation, the building’s design provides for retail, restaurant and business locations on the first floor, while the upper levels offer modern-industrial loft living that is affordable. The Temtor brings 100 years of tradition, history and allure.

Be a part of the revitalization of historic South Carondelet. Come to work or live in The Temtor, located at 8125 Michigan Avenue.

The Temtor offers classic appeal, modern amenities, roof top views, covered parking and spacious loft living. The first floor of this historic building contains approximately 28,000 square feet of commercial space. Perennial Artisan Ales is the first commercial tenant at The Temtor to enjoy the affordable and flexible spaces with expansive facades.

Rich with history and ripe with possibilities, The Temtor is the perfect place to set up shop or call home.

We have been getting some fantastic feedback on our newest development, The Temtor. The re-developing going on in the South Carondelet neighborhood is setting The Temtor up to become one of the most sought after mixed-use developments in Saint Louis.

The Temtor is a huge addition to the renewal that is happening in South Carondelet. The buzz that surrounded The Temtor back in late December mainly peaked because of our newest tenant, Perennial Artisan Ales.

Perennial Artisan Ales is a micro-brewery that will have a tasting room and bar, a beer garden and tours of the brew house. They are set to open July 2011!

Perennial Artisan Ales recently gave their followers a sneak peek on their blog with photos of their tanks. They are running a contest to choose one of their seasonal brews.

The Temtor is a mixed-use development located in South Carondelet that once housed the Coca-Cola syrup factory. The Temtor has 17,500 square feet of remaining commercial retail or office space for lease and 77 loft-style apartments available for pre-lease starting in April.

Since the announcement of Perennial, Steins Broadway has enjoyed a continued success of interest surrounding the build out of The Temtor.

For the locals and residential prospects it is always the same questions. “When are we going to get to see the inside of one of the lofts?”
